Orn-uma Polpanich is involved in ongoing research activities the SEI Asia centre as well as assisting in developing new research projects.
She is currently involved in the follow-up of the Sustainable Mekong Research Network programme (Sumernet) as well as projects on agricultural systems in Thailand and assessments on the management of the Mekong region.
Polpanich has more than five years of academic experience within agriculture and environment research. For the last seven years she has been working as a research officer for various international research institutes which specialize in land and water management in Asian developing countries.
Her experience includes the integration of remote sensing and geographic information system (RS/GIS) to disaster and environmental management.
Orn-uma has two master‘s degrees in international land and water management with a specialization in irrigation and water engineering from Wageningen University and Research Centre. Her master thesis research was conducted in in Accra and Kumasi, Ghana. Her second degree is in sustainable land use planning and natural resource management from Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
