He was the main author of UNDP’s China Human Development Report 2002 – Making Green Development a Choice and participated in the expert team behind the recent OECD Environmental Performance Review of China where he was responsible for drafting the chapter on Environmental – Social Interface.
Karl is a graduate from Stockholm University’s East Asia Progamme (1990) and has a bachelor’s degree in engineering (1980). Before joining SEI in 2000 he had a two year posting as environmental advisor with the Swedish Embassy in Beijing.
From 1990 to 1998 he was responsible for China co-operation at the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
