In Stockholm he coordinates the Green-Blue Water Initiative.
He also coordinates SEI's contribution to the Green Water Credits Project and the Glowa Jordan River Project which is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research.
In Potsdam he is co-chair of the Ecosystem Vulnerability Work package of the EU CIRCE project and the Water & Climate work package of the EU Wassermed project, both focusing on the Mediterranean. He also advises GTZ and SIDA (German and Swedish Development Cooperation) on mainstreaming of climate adaptation into their development projects.
Previously he coordinated the Global Water Systems Project of the Global Environmental Change Programmes, was senior scientist in the International Dialogue on Water and Climate, executive officer of the IGBP BAHC (Biospheric Aspects of the Hydrological Cycle) project, and worked for the Advisory Council to the German Government on Global Change.
Holger holds a masters degree in environmental sciences (geo-ecology) from the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
