Our research supports policy change on climate risk, adaptation and mitigation in developed and developing countries.

Among the wide range of serious environmental and development challenges faced by humankind, climate change is one of the most urgent and difficult to address. It is urgent because of the devastating effects that climate change is likely to lead to. It is difficult because emissions of greenhouse gases are built into our economic systems, occurring in many human activities, and are strongly connected to economic growth.

Climate change is intrinsically linked to other environmental and development problems, such as water scarcity, food security, health, desertification and ecosystem resilience.

These connections must be considered in mitigation and adaptation responses.

SEI helps to:
- adopt effective, equitable and fair mitigation and adaptation strategies in the North and South

- transform energy systems around the world

- reduce greenhouse gases by at least 80% by 2050

- implement adaptation strategies worldwide
