Gunilla Brattberg praised for her work on sustainable water and sanitation systems.

The Swedish national knowledge node for on-site sanitation, Avloppsguiden has awarded former EcoSanRes Director Gunilla Brattberg the 2010 Swedish Wastewater and recycling prize for her ong-time commitment to develop sustainable water management in Sweden and abroad.

Brattberg was one of the first in Sweden to consider water management as part of an ecocycle and to promote alternative solutions to sanitation by providing containment, treatment, and recycling of waste.

Known for her sharp approach and competence, Gunilla Brattberg was also one of the founders of Stockholm Water Symposium.

Furthermore, she has a strong interest in international research work, especially within water and vulnerability, finding ways to develop sustainable sanitation practices in urban and rural areas of the developing world.
