- Co-developing knowledge for climate adaptation decision-making in African cities
- 13.02.2013 - 15.02.2013
- Dar es Salaam, Tanzania -
SEI is participating in a workshop to pilot a methodology to co-develop knowledge for decision-making on climate change adaptation in peri-urban areas, with a focus on how to leverage newly available climate science data and information to support local public sector decision-making. The workshop is being co-hosted by UCT's Climate Systems Analysis Group, START and the University of Dar es Salaam, with funding from the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).
We see this as a great opportunity to meet and work with both university- and government- based colleagues from other African cities (specifically Addis Ababa, Maputo, Kampala, Dar es Salaam and Lusaka) on questions of institutionalising climate adaptation in cities and also to interrogate the new downscaled climate projections covering Africa that are being produced through the CORDEX programme.
SEI researcher Anna Taylor will participate in this workshop.
