Events

The road from Rio is as important as the road to Rio. Coming back from Rio the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) wants to take Rio home and contribute to the implementation of Rio results and discussions, in particular in the European Union. The EESC Sustainable Development Observatory organizes a public Rio-debriefing meeting "Bringing Rio home" on 5 July.

The meeting will consist of four panels, respectively on:
- EU Sustainable Development Strategy after Rio  
- Effective civil society involvement
- Sustainable Development Goals
- Social Dimension of Sustainable Development   

Panellists come from think tanks, social partners, environment and development NGOs, and Sustainability Councils.

This de-briefing session will input into the thematic EESC plenary debate "Bringing Rio home" on 11 July 2012 with Janez Potocnik (European Commissioner for Environment), Laurence Tubiana (Director IDDRI Paris) and Olivier Consolo (Director CONCORD).

SEI Research Fellow Rasmus Kløcker Larsen will present at this meeting.
